چکیده
We investigate physical implications of a gravitational analog axion electrodynamics with parity-violating gravitoelectromagnetic theta term. This is related to the Nieh-Yan topological invariant in gravity torsion, contrast well-studied Chern-Simons term quadratic curvature, coupled via dynamical axionlike scalar field. Axion gravitodynamics corresponding linearized theory. find that potentially observable effects are over 80 orders magnitude stronger than for its counterpart and could be reach detection by experiments near future. Earth tides and Lense-Thirring effect
The general relativistic Lense-Thirring effect can be measured by inspecting a suitable combination of the orbital residuals of the nodes of LAGEOS and LAGEOS II and the perigee of LAGEOS II. The solid and ocean Earth tides affect the recovery of the parameter by means of which the gravitomagnetic force is accounted for in the combined residuals. Thus an extensive analysis of the perturbations ...
متن کاملThe Lense–Thirring Effect and Mach’s Principle
We respond to a recent paper by Rindler on the “Anti–Machian” nature of the Lense–Thirring effect. We remark that his conclusion depends crucially on the particular formulation of Mach’s principle used. † Permanent address: Churchill College, Cambridge, CB3 0DS, England
متن کاملTime-Varying Lense-Thirring System
We consider bound geodesic orbits of test masses in the exterior gravitational field of a rotating astronomical source whose proper angular momentum varies linearly with time. The linear perturbation approach of Lense and Thirring is herein extended to the nonstationary case. In particular, we investigate the instability of Lense-Thirring precessing orbits due to the slow temporal variation of ...
متن کاملTidal satellite perturbations and the Lense-Thirring effect
The tiny general relativistic Lense-Thirring effect can be measured by means of a suitable combination of the orbital residuals of the nodes of LAGEOS and LAGEOS II and the perigee of LAGEOS II. This observable is affected, among other factors, by the Earth’ s solid and ocean tides. They induce long-period orbital perturbations that, over observational periods of few years, may alias the detect...
متن کاملOn the history of the so-called Lense-Thirring effect
Some historical documents, especially the Einstein-Besso manuscript from 1913, an extensive notebook by Hans Thirring from 1917, and a correspondence between Thirring and Albert Einstein in the year 1917 reveal that most of the merit of the so-called Lense-Thirring effect of general relativity belongs to Einstein. Besides this “central story” of the effect, we comment shortly on some type of pr...
